David Dunlap Observatory Tours
Through AstroGeo, school groups, science camps, clubs, and corporate teams can book their visit and tour of the historic and interesting David Dunlap Observatory in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Tours can be short (approximately 2 hours) or long (approximately 4 hours).
Each visit will explore the rich history of the site, tour the observatory dome and the 23 ton Great Telescope, experience an immersive show in the Skylab, and (weather permitting) carry out live observing.
Daytime visitors can observe the Sun safely in our H-alpha telescopes, while evening visitors will explore the night sky through the 74" (1.88 metre) Great Telescope and our smaller telescopes. Fees per person are charged at $13.50 for short tours and $18.50 for long tours, plus HST. Click here to inquire available booking dates.

Teacher Support and Training
Teachers are invited to contact AstroGeo to book a session with one of our scientist educators, at either the David Dunlap Observatory or their school.
You will receive in-depth information and resources to aid in the classroom, including how to purchase and use a telescope, the best software and apps, and recommended books and websites. Training is available for the popular open source astronomy simulation program Stellarium.
An AstroGeo astronomer or earth scientist can schedule a daytime visit to your school or camp and present on a variety of available topics. All of our programs are an excellent way to reinforce or supplement previously delivered curriculum material.
Astronomy-themed presentations employ dynamic astronomy software to demonstrate and explain difficult-to-grasp concepts, or just tour the night sky indoors!
Earth Science presentations feature rock and mineral samples, explanations of geological principles, and anecdotes from the industry.

An astronomer will work with you to schedule your star party at the best time, and bring to your location professional-grade equipment to give visitors a look at the best night-time sights. Each party includes a tour of the sky with a star-pointer, stories and information about interesting objects, answers to questions, and assistance with guests' own equipment. These are all-ages events.
